Recognizing, Celebrating & Empowering women In Africa’s Out-Of-Home advertising industry
SPOTLIGHT
Livia Brown Founder
What3things / Co-host Beyond The Billboard
Livia Brown didn’t start in out-of-home (OOH) media—she found her way there through a broader love for branding and strategy while working in sales and marketing. Her big break came when she joined Posterscope South Africa as a junior location specialist. New to the media agency world, Livia threw herself into the deep end—working late nights, seeking mentorship, and tackling extra projects to fast-track her learning. It paid off. She soon discovered a passion for location data, diving into foot traffic trends and consumer behavior to sharpen campaign strategies. That curiosity became her signature, eventually propelling her into the role of General Manager, where she built a team known for having some of the smartest OOH tools in the market.
These days, Livia operates independently, bringing a rare cross-sector lens to her consulting work. She guides media owners, empowers agencies, and advises clients directly—connecting dots others often miss. She’s also shaping the industry conversation as co-editor of DOOH.co.za, a go-to hub for all things OOH in South Africa, and as co-host of Beyond the Billboard, the country’s first OOH podcast. For Livia, growth has always come from saying yes to challenges and being relentlessly curious. Her mantra is simple: if it doesn’t exist, create it. As she expands her influence across Africa and beyond, one thing is clear—Livia isn’t just part of the OOH industry; she’s helping redefine it.
Blessing Ugwu Lead Media Operations
Ubiquity Holdings
Blessing Ugwu, Media Operations Lead at Ubiquity Holdings, is quietly transforming how Out-of-Home (OOH) advertising is planned and executed across West and Central Africa. With operations spanning Ghana, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Cameroon, and Rwanda, she oversees end-to-end campaign delivery, ensuring efficiency and accountability from strategy to analysis. Originally aspiring to be a journalist, Blessing stumbled into media buying through an internship and soon discovered her passion for the OOH industry. Faced with widespread challenges—like proof-of-performance fraud and a lack of reliable planning data—she took it upon herself to introduce real-time monitoring systems and stricter compliance frameworks, significantly improving campaign transparency and vendor accountability.
Beyond her technical leadership, Blessing is also helping redefine the industry’s gender dynamics. In a space long perceived as male-dominated, she stands as a beacon for women breaking into leadership and operational roles in OOH. Currently leading a data-driven, high-impact campaign for a Quick Service Restaurant brand, Blessing continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible through innovation and location intelligence. She’s passionate about mentoring the next generation of female professionals and envisions a future where transparency, data, and inclusion are central pillars of OOH success in Africa.
